The Scale

Here’s an AIM conversation (very little edited) I had with someone a little while ago about my scale. The scale.p class=”small”>rogueXnine: You want to hear my scale real quick?
font color=”red”>unnamed: sure
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: ok…
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine:
spacer size=”16″ type=”horizontal”>4. Pretty – physically attractive
spacer size=”16″ type=”horizontal”>3. Cute – possesses certain characteristics of cuteness
spacer size=”16″ type=”horizontal”>2. Intelligent – mentally attractive
spacer size=”16″ type=”horizontal”>1. Beautiful – all of the above
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: That’s kind of always how it’s been for me.
font color=”red”>unnamed: whats cuteness?
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: Hmm. Ok…
font color=”red”>unnamed: i’m makin ya think!
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: Yeah.
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: I mean I wrote this down a while ago too.
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: It’s the same thing.
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine:
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: Cute – contains "pretty", a certain precious charm maybe, contains part "intelligent"
font color=”red”>unnamed: ok more thinking…. how about when an actress is considered cute? or do they get a whole new scale?
font color=”red”>unnamed: cause the intelligence is harder to measure
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: It’s not a physical characteristic nor mental. More of a way someone presents themself.
font color=”red”>unnamed: a part of personality?
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: Most definitely!
font color=”red”>unnamed: ok so do women who act get the same scale?
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: If they act and I can tell, they aren’t intelligent, therefore, aren’t cute.
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: Dude, I am so posting this conversation on my blog.
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: does it make sense?
font color=”red”>unnamed: yes i think it does
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: k
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: That’s always been my scale.
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: 2, 3, 4 are kind of even. 1 is ultimate.
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: And I’ve only met one "beautiful" in my lifetime.
font color=”red”>unnamed: i’ve met my share of hot and sexy’s
font color=”red”>unnamed: my scale must be easier on people
font color=”red”>unnamed: but thats cool you put that much thought into it
font color=”red”>unnamed: cause i get the feeling a lot of guys are really arbitrary when it comes to girls
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: I wrote this huge thing on it a couple years ago. I should find it.
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: Maybe, but I don’t think I am. I know what I want and I don’t think I could ever settle.
font color=”red”>unnamed: settle for less than?
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: Less than beautiful.
font color=”red”>unnamed: wow
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: But that’s not it either!
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: It has to be completely reciprocated on their part too. Or else why bother?
font color=”red”>unnamed: oh in how they think of you
font color=”red”>unnamed: makes sense
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: God I hope so. I mean this is really it.
i>rogueXnine signed off at 5:17:55 PM.
i>rogueXnine signed on at 5:18:20 PM.
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: OMG
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: please say you have that entire conversation
font color=”red”>unnamed: i log everything
font color=”blue”>rogueXnine: Cool. Can ya send it to me please?

I really hope that made sense to everyone because it makes complete sense to me.

Hmm… Buy Tuesday?

Alright, so today wasn’t really a Best Buy Tuesday because I never went there specifically, but the spirit still remains.

The release of iSync 1.1 today really put me into high gear on getting a new phone to replace my super crappy, extra chinsy, and forever reception-less Sony Ericsson T68i. In the end, I changed my mind because I didn’t like what was currently available. Anyone have some recommendations for a reliable GSM phone?

In what I was thinking to be another fruitless attempt, I called up the Apple Store Pasadena thinking maybe, just maybe, they’d have the ever elusive Griffin iTrip in. Guess what? They did. “Save me that shit! I’ll be there in 15 minutes!” So I picked that up and the iCharger by Monster Cable (last car charger broke 10 seconds after I opened it). Done and done.

What would a Tuesday be without buying DVDs? Made myself a quick stop over at Tower Records and picked up what was one of the most fun movies last year, Die Another Day (my full review here). Also picked up About Schmidt and The Fast And The Furious: Tricked Out Edition.

Tuesdays are most definitely love/hate days. Mmm… new stuff. Ugh… less money.

QuickTime 6.3

MacCentral: “Apple released Tuesday QuickTime v6.3, a new version of its multimedia technology. QuickTime 6.3 adds support for the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standard, bridging a connection to passing multimedia content over wireless networks on devices like cell phones and PDAs.”

This is one of…

This is one of those exercises you did back in high school where the teacher asked you to just write. It really didn’t matter about what. Just that you filled up your page.

Which reminds me, we did these journal type deals for the first 10 minutes of our English class. They usually had a theme surrounding them like writing about the previous weekend or starting it with “swallowed by the darkness, I…”. They would almost always end up with my friends and I making fun of each other using the most tasteless of tastes. “Swallowed by the darkness, I tried to grasp the inner wrinkles of Leo’s anus.” Tasteless, but completely hilarious (at the time). We still have most of these journals from high school and were going to adapted them into a visual form to be posted on the net. In fact, that was the original reason I bought the-journals.com, but it never happened.

I’m bailing out of this one because I’m boring myself more than I’m boring anyone who reads it. This is what happens when you force a post.

Roy Retiring

NHL.com: “Colorado’s Patrick Roy is retiring, ending the 18-year career of one of the greatest goaltenders in NHL history… A four-time Stanley Cup champion, Roy leaves as the NHL’s career leader in victories with 551 and games played with 1,029. He also is the all-time leader in playoff victories, games played and shutouts.”

Along side Gretzky, Roy was the reason I got into hockey. You can’t deny his impact to the sport and although the peak of his career was some time ago, there’s no way anyone can say he’s leaving on a down note. He was easily one of the best goaltenders in the league this last season and will always be seen as one of the best (if not the best) goalies in the NHL ever. I’m truly saddened by this news.
