The title says it all. So without further delay, onto the list.

Kia Commercial Girl
I’m a man on a mission. I must have seen this commercial a dozen times and everytime I saw it, I stopped dead in my tracks to watch it. It’s a Kia commercial for the Sonata and it’s got the cutest damn girl you’ve ever seen driving the Sonata (of course). Blonde with a little baby face (how typical coming from me). It goes through her life real quick and shows her with different boyfriends all the time, but with the same car (go figure) and dog. The last scene is her and the dog in the car pulling over because she’s run out of gas. The tow truck pulls up with some guy. The girl looks in her rear view mirror, see the guy, then make the most adorable surprisingly shocked look EVER! Award winning performance if you ask me.
I must find out who this girl is. She’s gonna be a star one day. I’ve been looking all over the internet for this commercial with no luck what so ever. As soon as I find it, though, it’s going right up here.
Just Another Manic Monday, Oooooo
I’m sure I’ve said numerous times before how much I hate Mondays. Well, since I don’t feel like working right now, I’ll give ya a quick update on some stuff going on.
Football has started and after the first week of Pro Football Pick’em, I find myself in a tie for DEAD LAST! It’s not totally done though. We still have tonight’s game and I picked Pittsburgh when the other person picked New England. That means tomorrow, I will either be in deal last still or second to last. Pittsburgh’s rolling this year and I’m pretty confident about tonight though. Did you see that Bears game? Oh man I was up all over my place just screaming my head off. I can’t believe I was about to turn that mess off after the first half. Anything else? Ohh, screw Denver and everyone else who likes them. Go Chicago and Buffalo. Screw Denver, San Francisco, Green Bay, and Minnesota right in their asses!
What else? Still need to find a roommate. If I don’t get one soon, oh well. I’ll just pay for it myself for however long I have to. It will be nice to be able to have a separate room and office anyway. I’m actually kind of hoping no one finds this place so I can live all by myself in my big ass apartment. We’ll see what happens I guess.
The MySQL/PHP stuff is going pretty good right now. Made a couple of simple applications, but nothing spectacular yet. I’m taking it pretty slow because I really want to soak in this stuff. Sure, I could go out there and make a database, but I want to understand every concept the right way. That just takes time. I guess a good analogy of what I don’t want to be is someone who opens up Dreamweaver, makes a site, then says they’re HTML experts. Or someone who puts up an already made template forum and says they know MySQL/PHP. I need to know how and why everything interacts with each other.
I think that’s it for now. I’ll probably put up my “top 5” soon referring to the last post.
Elisha Cuthbert
I am a huge fan of the FOX series “24” and if you are too, you need to see this! Oh yes, I have a new entry in my Top 5 Girls.
Windows Media Player Shows Anti-Standards Behavior
by Jim Dalrymple of MacCentral
“Apple Computer Inc. says that Microsoft’s Corp.’s release of Windows Media Player 9 yesterday, shows the software giant is still trying to catch up to QuickTime 6, Apple’s content creation and media player technology. Apple said the release of Windows Media Player 9 also shows the public how anti-standards Microsoft really is…”

MySQL and PHP
I have decided to take on a new challenge. I’m going to try and learn anything and everything about MySQL databases and PHP. Why? Because I want to feel productive and it would be advantageous for me to learn it. Another big part of it is because I don’t feel any forward movement in my current job and learning new things will help me professionally progress forward with or without my current employer (and, in turn, keeping my sanity). So one of the first major goals I set for myself is to adapt my entire DVD database that I currently develop in FileMaker Pro over to a web-based MySQL/PHP driven database. I don’t think it should be too hard considering how flat the database is, but I’ll never know until I start working on it. I guess I’m off to pick up my first resource. I heard a lot of good things about this book and ratings for it are pretty high. I’ll probably also be using the reference manual from the official MySQL site a lot. Anyway, good luck to us all…
Earthquake?
So did anyone else just feel that earthquake about 2 minutes ago (12:08 am)? They are saying it was a 4.6 in Yorba Linda but it felt like no more than a 2 here in Alhambra. Seems like we’re way overdue for a 6+ now. Gotta love Southern California.

With help from the good people of phpBB, we have our forums up and active. Click here to go visit them.
Apple Informant
Today I am opening up Apple Informant. It’s primarily going to be a troubleshooting forum for the Mac community, but it will also have news and updates dealing with the Apple related industry. Nothing like MacCentral‘s coverage, but we will have major news updates. It should be a very slow start to get it up and running because it’s completely user driven. That means nothing gets going unless the users themselves are pushing it. Communities like this take years to form and I’m expecting just the same for my forums. Anyway, if you’re an Apple fan or just need some troubleshooting, get yourself on over to the Apple Informant: Apple Forums For Apple Users.
18th Most Viewed Site Ever!
…at work that is. I took a look at my work’s firewall reports and it said my site was the 18th most hit site within my company. That’s bullsh*t yo! I want to at least be in the top 10. What’s kind of funny is now that I have a little bit of music on my site, I can actually hear people viewing it. So if all of these people are viewing it, why aren’t you commenting? Anyway, visit more and I’ll keep posting. Next week I’ll give another update on where we hit in the firewall.
