Thoughts from the Bowl: A full weekend

It’s been quite a long time since I did a “Thoughts from the Bowl”. The last one looks to have been done on November 9, 2003, so this is way overdue.

I’m missing only the biggest entertainment event in the world, Comic Con. This is something I’ve tried to go to every year, but it’s honestly getting less and less fun. The reason for this? San Diego (which is French for “a whale’s vagina”). Yes, what started as a small comic conference has quickly outgrown the city of San Diego over the last 12 years I’ve been going. It’s bad. Real bad. I can only hope that, when the contract with San Diego is up in the next year, Comic Con moves to a proper location that can house what it has become. I’m hearing Anaheim, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas are all wanting it real bad. My vote would be for Anaheim.

So you would think a weekend without Comic Con would be a weekend with nothing to do, but you’d be very very wrong sirs. My weekend unexpectedly kicked off Thursday night when I attended a friend’s 40th birthday party. Apparently it was so fun that I needed Friday to recover, something that I wasn’t planning to do. Today is filled with some sort of lunch truck expo. Later tonight is another friend‘s birthday party/jive talkin’ 70’s potluck. Sunday is up in the air for now.

Alright, time to end this thought from the bowl and head out.
