Remembering

Hmm. I didn’t realize what day it was until I saw the date on the last post. It’s been 3 years since that day and it’s amazing how fresh in my memory it still is. I knew I was staying home from work that day. Made that decision the night before because I was fight a cold. I woke up like every other morning listening to Mark & Brian on the radio, only this time there wasn’t the normal laughing. Instead, they were talking very seriously and reporting on something. I couldn’t tell just yet because of how disoriented I was. Then I heard it. “Again, they think a plane has crashed into one of the World Trade Center buildings.” I immediately get up, go into the living room, and flip on CNN. It was true. I wake up my ex. We watched the second plane hit live and the two towers fall. I remembered us both crying and holding each other as we watched. The rest of the day was spent in front of the TV and making phone calls to relatives.

If I could think of anything else to name this post, I would. That word is so typical and tied to the events that happened that day. I guess I’m just not that creative.

Alright. Enough of that. You know, I think I’m gonna watch Zoolander today. I remember that movie came out a couple of weeks after 9/11 and everyone went to see it. People were just desperately wanting to find something to enjoy and that movie helped tell me that it was finally ok to laugh again.
