Boy let me tell…

Boy let me tell you. I picked up my Star Wars tickets today and I’m way excited about it. I’m going to see THE FIRST DAMN SHOW at midnight on Wednesday (well, it’s actually Thursday at that point). And if that’s not enough (and I’m sure it wont be), I got tickets to the 10:55pm show Thursday night! I’m gonna see this thing twice in less than 24 hours! Oh man I can’t wait.

What else happened today. I bought two DVDs of movies I’ve never seen before. The first one was Ocean’s 11. Way better than I thought it was going to be. The performances were first rate and overall it was just a very entertaining flick. Next was Sexy Beast. Ben Kingsley is absolutely insane in this one and you’ll love it. He plays a mafia type gangster who asks Ray Winstone‘s character to join him in a job and will not take no for an answer. I’m gonna try and pull my favorite scene from it and post it here soon. It’ll show you how amazing he is.

I also picked up the Star Wars: Episode II soundtrack done by the always brilliant John Williams. Again, he pulls off pure magic that can only come from a genius mind like his. Last summer, I had the chance to see him in concert conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a tribute to all of the different films he’s scored. It was easily one of the most incredible and breathtaking experiences of my life and I can’t wait to see him again.

That’s all for now folks.

Ramblings of a Desperate Man

Damnit people, you better start posting some constructive comments to these items or I’m going to draw a warm bath and whip out some razor blades on myself. What do I need to do? You like porn? Will that do it? How about a “Hottie of the Day” or something? Who do you want to see? What do I have to do?

Fortune of the Day

We just got done eating Chinese food and breaking open the fortune cookies. Here’s the fortune of the day:

My Short Spiderman Review

I was pretty upset that I didn’t get to see this movie on it’s opening day mainly because you get the good crowds who are really into it and don’t hold anything back as far as showing how they feel about the scenes. So I waited and waited until one of my friends were free (I’m not one of those people that like to go to movies by myself) and we finally caught a 10:10pm showing on Sunday night right after watching a great X-files.

Most comic book adaptations to movies have been, for the most part, lame. This is not the case with Spiderman. I mean it is no Batman (just the first one, hehe), but it’s close. There’s plenty of action, the acting was decent, Danny Elfman does a great job of scoring the thing, oh… and of course there is Kirsten Dunst. You can give most of the credit to Sam Raimi for this movie though. Although I’d say a majority of his films have been absolute crap, Spiderman does not fall into that category. We also can’t forget about Kirsten Dunst.

So was there anything I didn’t like? Or course. There was a good amount of dialog that just needed to be thrown away, I would have enjoyed more live action sequences than the many CG sequences, and Ms. Dunst doesn’t get naked (although there was a hint of nipple). Oh and there’s one thing that REALLY bothered me. The whole class is on this field trip to some lab at one point and they’re looking at these 15 genetically enhanced super spider. Mary Jane (Dunst) looks in and says she only sees 14. The guide then basically says “oh well” and continues on. If some super mutant changing rabid genetically enhanced spider was on the loose, I think I’d probably do a little bit more than say “oh well”. “Oh forget about that little guy. We let him frolic and play as he wants. Forget about the fact that if he bites you, you’re going to start wearing colored spandex because your DNA has been screwed with.”

Other than that, it’s a solid movie and it has Kirsten Dunst. I highly recommend it to any looking to zone out for 121 minutes. Oh, did I mention that Kirsten Dunst is in it?

Oh how I can't…

Oh how I can’t wait until Star Wars Episode II. And with reviews as positive as these, it’s not helping to pass the time:

In almost every review I’ve read, the writer says that this movie will be as good or better than The Empire Strikes Back (thought by many, including myself, to be the best SW movie). That’s quite a lot to say about this new one and I hope it’s all true. I just wish it’s true hype and not false hope. Either way, I can’t wait.

What a nice day…

Well, yesterday (I say yesterday because it’s past midnight now) started out to be the normal boring Saturday for me, but ended up being kind of… well… nice.

I got up around 11am which is way so late for me and took care of a couple things around town before going to my parent’s house. I was planning on watching the NASCAR race there at 4pm but it was rain delayed for at least a couple of hours, so I decided to head on over to Best Buy. It’s so hard for me not to spend money in that place and I ended up buying Bandits on DVD, Star Wars Racer Revenge on PS2, and Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds on PC. Ok, so here’s where the nice part starts.

While in the check-out line waiting to put down my hard earned cash (Who am I kidding? I sleep at work.), this girl standing in front of me begins to talk to me about Star Wars and the games I’m buying. Turns out she’s a big Star Wars fan AND she loves video games. Obviously, I’m automatically attracted towards her. Oh but it get’s better. We talk a bit more outside of the store and come to find out that she’s going to the car show tonight at Fudruckers (a local burger place that attracts the white trash like myself) because she loves cars. Interesting. At this point I’m thinking “screw watching the race” and I tell her I’ll meet her there later. So the day goes on. I head back to my parent’s place for a couple more hours before heading back out to the car show. We meet up about a half hour after I’m there and start to bullsh*t back and forth. We talk careers for a split second. I tell her mine and she tells me her. Turns out she’s a digital artist for some design firm in Burbank.

“Ok, let’s lay this out,” I’m thinking to myself. She likes Star Wars, video games, cars, AND she’s a computer geek. It’s like God said, “Hmm, I’m going to make you something nice today Richie.” None of my ex-girlfriends had these interests or traits. It was usually a chore for them to deal with it anytime that stuff came up with me, but this girl would actually enjoy hearing about it?! On top of that, we made plans to talk soon and maybe see each other next week. I don’t know about you, but I’m thinking she’s on crack for wanting to see me again or maybe just imaginary all together. How weird must that have look with me talking to myself in a crowd of people?

Thanks for a great season…

Unfortunately, the Los Angeles Kings’ season ended tonight in game 7 of the first playoff round against defending Stanley Cup champions, the Colorado Avalanche. It was an awesome series to finish off a very decent regular season and I can’t wait until they’re back again next October. The good news is that the Colorado Avs are an awesome team and I wish them the best of luck on their way to a back-to-back championship. Detroit sucks my ass!
