NIN Releases GB2 Project

Macworld News: “Interested in remixing a Nine Inch Nails song yourself? You can, legally. All you need is an Apple Mac running GarageBand 2 and a file you can download courtesy of Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor — he’s released a version of the song “The Hand That Feeds” in GarageBand 2 format.”

How cool is this? He actually wants you to take his song and cut it up. With so many creative GarageBand users out there, we’re sure to hear some excellent (and not so excellent) remixes out there in a couple of days. Here is a copy of Trent’s read me file that accompanies the GB file.

Apoye De Rosarito

“Hola.”
“Mi nombre estaciona.”
“Mi nombre es retarda.”
“DËœnde estΩn mis pantalones?”
“Qu⁄ puta? Qu⁄?”

Esto es parte del espaˆol yo aprend‚ mientras en Rosarito. Era una explosi˜n y yo no puedo esperar para volver en mayo. He anunciado algunos de las imΩgenes yo tom⁄ mientras allΩ. Si⁄ntase libre verificarlos fuera.

Here to (poorly) translate this post. Here to see the pictures I took from the trip.

Rosarito Bound

I’m leaving for Rosarito Thursday night and wont be back until Monday night. This is probably the largest vacation I’ve had in 3 years. I know. It’s only 4 days, but that’s still more than any other time I’ve been away from work. We’re staying at a friend’s parent’s beach house. The back yard is literally the beach. Never been so I hope it’s cool. I’ll try and make sure we stay clear of the federales. If ya don’t hear back from me on Tuesday, call home land security. Good luck to us all.

Bad Week

This past week has been polluted with death. First Mitch Hedberg, then Terri Schiavo, now the Pope. Although I don’t share the same beliefs that Catholics do anymore, you have to respect someone like the Pope who has been so firm and consistent in their beliefs with a want to make things better.

NIN & Weez In May

I can think of two great things that are happening in May (besides the fact that I’ll be moving out at the end of that month). After 6 long years, we finally get new Nine Inch Nails in the form of an album entitled With Teeth. Easily my favorite band. The new single, The Hand That Feeds sounds very different from what you would expect from NIN, but still very cool. Unlike most bands, I think NIN gets better with every single album and I’m sure With Teeth is going to knock me on my ass when it’s released May 3rd.

As if that wasn’t, we also get the new Weezer album, Make Believe, on May 10th. The new single, Beverly Hills sounds like classic Weez and I’m positive this one will also not disappoint. If I’m upset about anything, it’s that Weez wont be making their way to SoCal for their tour. Oh well. Still can’t wait for these released in May. Bring it.

Goodbye S66 Already

You know the Siemens S66 I got about a week ago? Well here’s my review. I hate it. It crashes. It doesn’t sync properly with iSync and really not even supported by it in the first place. Bluetooth is very sketchy with it. The user interface is a lot more complicated than it needs to be. Contacts are a pain to deal with. On the up side, it’s a sexy looking phone and with a firmware update to clear out some of the bugs, I can see someone who’d sync it to Windows liking it a lot more. Just not for me, though.

So this being the case, I ordered another phone today in exchange for the S66. I went all out on this one. It’s the Sony Ericsson S710a and I’m positive it’s going to be great. The only thing I’m sort of hesitant about is the swivel design. I’m not a big fan of moving parts on a phone. I’ll guess we’ll see how it works out in a couple of days when I get it in my hands.

Yeah… Too Bad Petition

Here is a news story that has recently mad national headlines concerning a 911 officer saying “yeah… too bad” and then hanging up on a call received about an injured motorcyclist. I’m completely appalled and disgusted over this officers action and I hope you will be too after reading the article. In fact, I hope you feel strongly enough to join me in signing a petition demanding further action be taken against him. He was only suspended for 15 days.

Hotel Figueroa Ad

If you know downtown Los Angeles, then you know the Hotel Figueroa. Well, up on the famous Hotel Figueroa is an ad for GM with content from my division at eVox. We didn’t do the complete ad, but we did supply all of the content for it and I’m proud enough to show it here. Consumer Whore Week

This week is definitely a week to demonstrate exactly how much of a consumer whore I am.

Picked up Finding Neverland. Saw it in the theaters and though it’s a pretty decent flick. Not good enough to get an Oscar nomination, but pretty good. Kate Winslet is also super sexy. Also picked up Star Wars: Clone Wars – Volume 1. I remember back when they announced a Star Wars cartoon series thinking that is was just gonna be beyond stupid. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Fans of SW and animation in general, rejoice. You should check it out if you haven’t.

According to the tracking number, my new phone is on the FedEx delivery truck and out for delivery. I haven’t read one bad thing about the Siemens S66. Already bought a 512mb RS-MMC card for more memory. Can’t wait to get my hands on it. Although officially undocumented, it should work perfectly with iSync. I’ll probably do a quick review of it later this week.

Here’s the big one. This time tomorrow, I should have in my hand the Sony PSP. The launch titles are weak and getting terrible ratings with the exception of Wipeout Pure (which I also ordered). After the terrible taste the Nintendo DS left in my mouth, I’m praying for the PSP to live up to the hype. With its list of specifications, I think it will.
