GarageBand and CC

Lessig: “…one missing piece has been a simple way to know what content you’re free to mix and remix within your GarageBand app. MacBand has now solved that problem. They’ve got a great archive of music by genre – all marked with Creative Commons licenses.”

I’ve been hanging around MacBand for the last day or so and there’s some real good (as well as real bad) content up there. Starting to inspire me to throw my own crappy GarageBand tracks up there too. If and when I do, I’ll let ya know it’s there. Ohh, and if you have something to share, link me to it.

I'm Not Dead

I’ve been neglecting my site for a while now, but there’s good reason for it. I can’t get into it right now, but I will soon. Until then, do ya see anything interesting from the Chicago Auto Show that’s been happening this week? The new Kia pickup isn’t too bad.

LOTR Can Suck My Butt

It is beyond me why anyone thinks The Lord of the Rings movies, especially this last one, were any good. The trilogy as a whole was beyond disappointing. Do people seriously believe The Return of the King deserved 11 Academy Award nominations. This reminds me of when the awards show was dropping in viewer a couple of years ago and the Academy went and nominated Titanic a ton of times to get the younger crowd watching again.

20 Years & Counting…

So this last Saturday, January 24, 2004, the Macintosh turned 20 years old and strangely enough, I was pretty quiet about it here. Even stranger is the fact that Apple has been pretty quiet about it. You would have thought they would have put up a new banner or something on the home page, but nothing. Anyway, there are a good amount of articles recently published on the event and I’ve gathered some of the more interesting ones here:

Jersey Girl

He stunned his fans when he said he wouldn’t be making anymore movies dealing with characters from the past films and now it looks like Kevin Smith is growing up a little more with his next flick, Jersey Girl. The “dick and fart joke” crowd, a majority of his fan base, need not apply here as there looks to be not a swear word in sight and that’s fine with me. Leave that degenerate, sub-human crowd behind is what I say. What I’m sure there will be is the smart writing and intelligent humor Smith brings to each and everyone of his films. I’m highly anticipating Jersey Girl and, as always, can’t wait to see what he’s doing next.

GarageBand First Thoughts

Survey says… wicked awesome!!! If you have a Mac, you need to go and pick it up GarageBand (along with all the other iLife ’04 apps) tonight. I don’t think I’m going out all weekend now. I also ordered last week the M-Audio midi controller for it but everyone seems to be out of them for the next couple of days. Oh well. More to come most definitely.

Oh, here are a couple of decent GarageBand sites. Small right now but I can see them being a good resource in the future.

L.A. Auto Show… Twilight Zone Style

Once again the auto show comes to town and once again, I forget my mono-pod for my camera. I got a whole batch of blurry, under/overexposed shots for ya in my gallery. Go take a look. So not only did I manage to take a whole bunch of crappy shots, I was able to run into at least 3 ex-girl somethings. Not sure what to classify them under. Just people I use to “hang out” with. Anyway, I turn and basically jog the other way anytime I’d see them. Pretty surreal. An episode from the twilight zone or something. Maybe they were forming a club and plotting to kill me. Hmm. Maybe I just had too wine and walking. Anyway, does anyone have any favorites from the L.A. or Detroit show? Highlights were definitely the C6 and Solstice for me. The Scion tC, Lexus IS430, and Mitsubishi Eclipse Concept E were also very nice. Oh, that new Mustang… I thought it was ugly in just the pictures. It’s ten times worse in person. Talk about a completely unoriginal and lazy design.

Blogging MacWorld

Since my morning is kinda relaxed, I’m gonna blog the MacWorld keynote that Jobs should be giving any minute now. Looks like it’s gonna be interesting.

Update: F this! I can’t get a good stream anywhere. You can check here for live updates.
