My E3 Report: Part 2 – Star Wars

Now time for the games. First off, there was a very good amount of Star Wars games to show off and the truth is everyone of them were good (usually not the case).

You remember all of the huge epic fights from the movies? The ones where hundreds of thousands of things were happening. Well you’re going to be in them and Star Wars Battlefront is going to take you there. Just imagine getting online with, say, 30 other people playing as Clone Troopers and actually fighting against 30 other people in the Clone Wars. It makes you think like you’re not the main focus of the game anymore but a interracial part in something much greater than you could imagine. The feeling is unbelievable. Throw in things like vehicles, bases, an stationary weapons you can use at any time and you have yourself a game.

Need more Star Wars? How about this? You are the ultimate solider trained by the best with access countless weapons and gadgets to aid you in the field. You move with the rest of your squad and are conditioned to do only one thing, fight. You are a Republic Commando. Check out the trailer for this one. It’s truly something to see.

Even more Star Wars? Well ok. Lucas Arts also releases the follow up to arguable the best game of 2003 with Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. I’m just starting to get through the first one but the second one looks like it’s going to be quite a treat. Lucas Arts and SOE will also be releasing the first expansion pack for the massive multiplayer online game Star Wars Galaxies later this year, Star Wars Galaxies: Jump To Lightspeed. It’s extending the virtual world of Galaxies into space with both combat and exploration. I’m very much involved in this game and this is going to be a tremendous add on that I just can’t wait for.

My E3 Report: Part 1 – Hardware

Yes folks. It’s time for one of the largest and definitely most fun expos of the year. Looks like I was able to break free from work and head down to the Electronic Entertainment Expo yesterday. Let me tell you, this year it was everything that E3 has been known to be and much more. Dark, loud, and exciting. I find that there are two different types of E3 events. Ones centered around new hardware and ones centered around new software. This year, there was big news in both worlds.

Probably the biggest were the announcements of both Nintendo and Sony’s handheld gaming platforms. Nintendo has their DS, a dual screen portable with graphics that rival the N64 platform. It also has wireless connectivity through 802.11b and one of the screens is touch sensitive. This is a gigantic step above the current Game Boy platform and, really, it had to be because Sony is leaping into the portable market guns blazing.

The PSP has a huge wide screen with amazing graphics that are damn near close to first generation PS2 games! On top of that, you have a control lay out that is very close to the PS2 that includes an analog stick (something the DS seriously needed). Add in USB 2.0 and wireless connectivity through 802.11b and you have yourself a serious portable gaming system. The DS will be available at the end of the year and the PSP will come to the US in Spring 2005. When do I get to put down my deposits?

Sony PSP

Yesterday, Sony unveiled the PSP, Sony’s portable gaming system to compete with Nintendo’s Game Boy. The think looks and sounds amazing. Gimmie gimmie!!!

Is anyone going to E3 this year? It might be the first time in the last 4 years that I might have to miss it for work. Sucks for me definitely. I guess I’ll see what I can do about tomorrow.

Miss Lohan On SNL

As promised (well, not promised, but as wished by me), your Lindsay Lohan video captures from SNL this past weekend. They include the Harry Potter skit.ul>

  • Set 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7li> Set 2 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

I know you can’t possibly enjoy them as much as I can, but definitely try.

  • Solstice First Drive

Autoweek is the first to drive a test mule for the 2006 Pontiac Solstice and it looks good. I can’t wait 18 months for this car to come out. It’s gotta be one of the most beautiful automobiles a domestic car company has produced in a while and the thing is definitely gonna be a performer. Where do I put down my deposit?

    More Lindsay & Mean Girls

Yeah, I saw Mean Girls yesterday. Let me tell you right here and now. That movie was freakin’ hilarious. Yeah. It really was. If you can get past the teen movie thing, you’re gonna find a ton of laughs with it. There’s surprisingly a fair amount of adult humor in it. I think my friends and I were laughing the most in there. Top it off with Lindsay Lohan all over the place and you have a pretty great comedy. I highly recommend it.

Oh, in about 10 minutes, Miss Lohan will be hosting Saturday Night Live. Sweet! I swear that’s gotta be the hottest girl out there. Yeah, even hotter than the super sexy Elisha Cuthbert. Seacrest out!

    Batman Revealed

Here’s your first look at Christian Bale as Batman. I got two words for this movie… can’t wait! They’re definitely going for the Dark Night Returns / Year One type Batman. Bring it. Seacrest out!
